Vermont is located in the north eastern part of the country and is the only New England state with no coastline along the Atlantic Ocean. The state of Vermont is bordered by Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, and the Canadian province of Quebec.

The state has a population of 608,827, making it the second least populous state. State capital is Montpelier, and the largest city is Burlington. Vermont has a humid continental climate, a mud season in spring followed by a generally mild early summer, hot August and a colourful autumn, followed by a cold winter. The state of Vermont is famous for its scenery and dairy products and America's largest producer of maple syrup.
Vermont is notable for the Green Mountains in the west and Lake Champlain in the northwest. Lake Champlain, the sixth Great Lake, can be a great home base for many activities like swimming, windsurfing, sailing and fishing. Or take a schooner cruise and see the lake from on board a historic craft!
