Iowa, also known as "Hawkeye State" or the "Tall Corn State", is a state in the Midwestern United States.

The capital and largest city in Iowa is Des Moines with 604,626 residents (estimated in 2006). Iowa is bordered by Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin. The Mississippi River forms the eastern boundary of the state and the boundary along the west is formed by the Missouri River.
